The falling of a leaf
The flapping of a single wing
The falling of a single, silent leaf
It happened just like that I still remember
All at once the whole world had been changed
By such a little thing, how could such a simple thing
Just standing in the middle of the motorway
Standing in the middle of the road
Helicopters hovered overhead
Their lights lit the cars backed up for miles
But nobody did move
No, no-one made a sound
Some left their cars on the motorway
We gathered in the middle of the motorway
Why anybody did it no one could say
What can make this whole world over?
What could cast or break such a spell?
Falling of a leaf, flapping of a single wing
Standing in the middle of the motorway
Oh my love I missed you
When you moved from rain in to the sun
Such a little thing, how could such a simple thing
Standing in the middle of the motorway
One cow standing in the middle of the road
The falling of a leaf
The flapping of a single wing
The falling of a single, silent leaf.
Falling of a leaf, flapping of a wing
Turning of a bird, falling of a limb
A sudden gust of wind on a mirror’d lake
A question never met, promise never kept
Spark upon a dried out field at the height of summer
A sudden screaming sound, slamming of the breaks
A tiny chink of glass in the otherwise empty house
What was I even doing before?
What can make this whole world over?
What could cast or break such a spell?
The falling of a leaf, flapping of a single wing
Standing in the middle of the motorway
Oh my love I missed you
When you moved from rain in to the sun
Such a little thing, how could such a simple thing
Standing in the middle of the motorway
One cow standing in the middle of the road

Constellations
03:45
|
|||
In the night the planets moved silently overhead
They filled the sky like fireworks, like waves of golden light
so bright
Raise up your voice to the distant constellations
Fires on the roofs, and the hills around the town
Run through the streets, how lucky to be
here to see these things, that no-one else has seen
It started slowly, like the tides I guess, I felt it too
Howling, weeping, beating, falling, feelings forcing through
and you
Raise up your voice to the distant constellations
Fires on the roofs, and the hills around the town
All the night long, sing all your songs for the changes yet to come
and the change already done
Raise up your voice to the distant constellations
Fires on the roofs, and the hills around the town
Run through the streets, how lucky to be
here to see these things, that no-one else has seen

Ghosts
03:21
|
|||
I remember as a kid my mother carrying me me back to bed
It was the new house so I must have been about four
And I remember looking down on both of us as she carried me
I remember walking by our side
What am I supposed to do with that?
Come back to bed my love it’s late
I remember working in a theatre and closing up alone
Walking through the darkened empty auditorium
I started singing: so quiet at first so I don’t wake the ghosts
And then louder and louder
Oh yeah, I really screamed it out
Only echoes I swear
Oh my golden boy
What are we gonna do with you now all your ghosts are gone?
Attend to your life my son
There are wonders yet to come
You are going to be alright
You are going to be alright
Did I tell you about the time I stayed at a friend’s out in the desert?
A ball of light passed right through the house that night
Completely silent, big enough for shadows, blue with sparks
And moving slowly from the hall towards the stairs
What was supposed to do with that?
I opened a window, went back to bed

On London Bridge
03:14
|
|||
In the middle of the night
In the middle of the bridge
A single flower bloomed
They swept it away, with the rubbish next day
Was forgotten by the noon
The next night there were a dozen more
The flowers bloom on London Bridge
You can cross the river through gardens
Of the lost and the gone
As the petals all fall one by one
in to the water.
With no grave to mark
And no love to win
They grow there in the dark
With nothing to say
And nowhere to go
No-one knows just where they all came from
Everyone knows just where they came from
The flowers bloom on London Bridge
You can cross the river through gardens
Of the lost and the gone
As the petals all fall one by one
in to the water
Everyone knows, just why they grow
And no-one forgets, no-one will forgive you
The flowers bloom on London Bridge
You can cross the river through gardens
Of the lost and the gone
As the petals all fall one by one
in to the water

Poison
02:59
|
|||
Look at you my son, the fruit of Avalon
Skin so hard from discipline
Won't you build those walls so high, one eye for an eye
And not one inch given
For one so pure, you sure don't look too healthy to me
Oh me oh my: the poison was inside
The shining city on the hill, the dream we can can fill
All the wolves and angels fed
One apple spoils the load, but the dream still holds
To the bright future led
But still the harvest spoils, upon the hill of bones and pride
Much to my surprise: the poison was inside
Meet, meet me deep, in the cold dry desert
There we will stare at the receding star light
There's nowhere to hide: the poison was inside

Oslo
03:25
|
|||
I was coming home from tour
You said 'You wanna see a show?'
I was tired, I wasn't sure, I said 'OK'
'It's at the Oslo', then Nick said 'the Oslo sucks'
Alex said 'Well you suck', but i'd never even heard of the place.
You made me take my car
You said 'It's fine: it's not too far'
Show me the way to Oslo
I don't even know my way around this town no more
There used to be a store there, I know there was
Show me the way to Oslo
And I never said I was up for this
I never said I was over this
I never even got to say goodbye
I laughed at the argument, but i did not understand it
While i was away you must have all moved on
With your own things, as i played my old songs
I thought we could pick it up, where we left, but I was wrong
And you decided not to go
I went on to the Oslo alone
Show me the way to Oslo
I don't even know my way around this town no more
There used to be a store there, I know there was
Show me the way to Oslo
And I never said I was up for this
I never said I was over this
I never even got to say goodbye
The show was pretty cool
